Just to reassure myself becuase last night was a big night which included drum and bass club called Purple Turtle and home at 6am. I was just in time to catch a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich with the night staff and we talked about Islam and politics, well, actually I just mostly listened. Martin is Sudanese and Musah is from Gambia; both are devout Muslims who take thier prayer time very seriously. They have amazing views on philosophy of life, history and current politics. I gladly listened mostly in silence or questioning because it is a privledge to experience another persons most valued ideas and passions. I think it is an interesting point to consider, how many of our friends or just people we newly meet, do we really care about learning their passions, beliefs, hopes and dreams? I admit, I am usually caught up in my own. How many people that I love and care about, do I actually know what is the most important things to them? Another consideration is that this world is actually filled with billions of indivdual people with individual assertions, none of whom actually fit into any one group or ideology. I suppose its easier to grasp the shear number of people or possibilites if they're grouped, but the idea only works in theory. So my mind is content to think in sweeping generalisations, but for moments, like 6am this morning I was refreashed to open my ears and mind to a different point of view, no matter howfar removed, or even paradoxical from my own, and appreiciate it for what it is: freewill, decisions, force, choice, power, freedom, vitality - life! So I fell asleep in the white bright light of morning with the rain hard against my window and my body almost limp beneath the white white covers. ee cummings said: "I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach ten thousand stars how not to dance" ee cummings
Somthing Pastor Schettler preached about in a message right before I left scool for the summer: Nothing happens to me by mistake, there are no tragedies in my life and I am a victim of no circumstance. Everything happens for a purpose and is part of a larger plan than what I can ever imagine. take responsibility
I Tim: For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Most of what I have known at this point is from watching other people, reading books and learning at school. What have learned is purely from experience. So, to learn what I know, to follow after what I have known and learn it for myself. To run my race. To be patient, humble, kind, compassionate. To have love and give double. To forgive. To breathe the air of every corner of the earth and praise the God of such a creation. A passion for the quest of truth and love. To live with passion and urgency. Then to teach so that others may watch and know and go and learn and find truth and love and the inexplicable union of both. 1 John 1:5 God is light and in Him is no darkness at all."
I thank God for my life and my light; to be worthy, the honour of being free.
